DRAKE: OVO BRAND SUED FOR $4.6 MILLION

Drake — Aubrey Graham, the rapper, the 6 God, the man with the owl logo — and his lifestyle brand OVO (October’s Very Own), which he co-founded with Oliver El-Khatib and producer Noah “40” Shebib.
An investment firm called A.R.I. OVO Growth Capital filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on June 11, claiming Drake’s OVO brand borrowed over $5.2 million in 2025 through five separate convertible promissory notes — basically loans that could be converted into ownership stakes — and didn’t pay it all back.
OVO was supposed to clear the balance by the start of May. That deadline passed. In May, they wired A.R.I. just over $3.8 million — but A.R.I. said that was only a partial payment. OVO disputes that, saying the $3.8 million wiped out the debt for good. That disagreement is what landed them in court.
The lawsuit claims OVO generated $72 million in revenue between 2024 and operated at a loss — reportedly losing around $12 million between 2022 and 2024. On top of that, OVO is reportedly in talks with Authentic Brands Group — the licensing giant that manages brands like Elvis, Muhammad Ali, Kevin Hart, and Shaq — about potentially selling a 50% stake in the company.
