Diddy: $100 Million L
Written by Ariel Newbold on September 13, 2024
Diddy took a massive, multimillion dollar hit after a Michigan inmate who accused him of drugging and sexual assault was awarded $100 million default judgement against the disgraced mogul.
Lenawee County Circuit Court Judge Anna Marie Anzalone found in favor of 51-year-old Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith on Monday. The inmate, a self-taught law scholar, previously received a temporary restraining order against Combs. The accuser claims that Bad Boy boss drugged and sexually assaulted him back in 1997 at a party in Detroit back when the alleged victim was working at a local restaurant. He also produced prison facility information that showed Combs visited him, and he says offered him $2.3 million to dismiss the lawsuit along with a vague but threatening ultimatum, warning, “You know how we get down.”
Since Diddy’s legal team seemingly ignored the action against their client, the judge ruled for a default judgement in Cardello-Smith’s favor. That same day, we learned that Diddy plans to sell his Beverly Hills mansion.
On Thursday, Diddy’s lawyers asked for this judgement to be set aside for two reasons. First, they maintain Diddy’s innocence. Secondly, the statute of limitations expired 17 years ago. (TMZ)
