HOT 91.7 FM MARIAH CAREY: Video Vanguard Award

Mariah Carey will receive the Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her hits at next month’s MTV Video Music Awards. Ironically, Mariah has never won a Moonman during her illustrious career. It’s the first time for MTV to honor her at the VMAs.
At 54, she will become the oldest recipient of the award. That honor is currently held by Richard Lester, director of The Beatles’ films A Hard Day’s Night and Help!, who was 52 when he received it at the first-ever VMAs in 1984.
MTV has now honored women eight consecutive times with the Vanguard Award. The previous male recipient was Kanye West a decade ago.
The VMAs will take place at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on September 7th and will air live on MTV, CBS and Paramount+.
