Written by on March 31, 2025

Rapper NLE Choppa celebrated a major career milestone this week as he made his feature film debut in Black Heat, attending the movie’s Hollywood premiere on Tuesday (March 25). The thriller, directed by Wes Miller, stars Jason Mitchell and Tabitha “DreamDoll” Robinson as parents on a dangerous quest to rescue their teenage daughter.

Chiming in on the experience, the 22-year-old artist shared his excitement with the audience after the screening. “It was real dope,” he said. The film was shot entirely at night in an Orlando apartment complex over several weeks.

What’s more. Choppa revealed how the opportunity came about, recalling, “I remember when my mother hit me, she was like ‘I know this guy named Wes, I went to school with him…He wants you to have a leading role in this movie.’ Wes seen my worth when I felt that other people didn’t. I think when I pulled up on set, the energy I brought, everything was [confirmed]. I wasn’t nervous, I was ready for it.”

Get this, the Memphis-born star also contributed to the film’s soundtrack with his new single “HARD LIFE,” featuring Carey Washington. The emotional track serves as the movie’s theme and carries a personal message from Choppa to his children that aligns with the film’s powerful narrative.

During the premiere event, the creative team announced that a prequel is already in development, with musician Lil Mama set to join the project. Black Heat officially hit theaters on Friday, marking Choppa’s successful transition from chart-topping rapper to rising film star.
