HOT 91.7 FM LIAM PAYNE: One Direction Singer Dies at 31

Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died Wednesday after falling from his hotel balcony in Argentina, TMZ reports. He was 31.
The gossip site said it wasn’t immediately known “if it was intentional or accidental.”
Witnesses say before the incident, Liam “had been acting erratic” in the hotel lobby earlier — he smashed his laptop and had to be carried back to his room.
Police said in a statement that they were called to the CasaSur hotel after being notified of an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.”
According to Reuters, when they arrived, “the hotel manager reported he had heard a loud noise from the inner courtyard and the police found that a man had fallen from the balcony of his room.”
CNN has obtained a transcript and recording of a 911 call from the manager of the CasaSur hotel, about an hour before Payne was found dead, reporting that he was “overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol” and destroying his 3rd floor room, and needed assistance. By the time police arrived, Payne had already fallen to his death.
There were reports this week about Liam’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry claiming he’d left her after asking her to get an abortion. Her attorneys had been trying to send him a cease and desist letter to stop contacting her, according to TMZ.
Another possible problem: Liam’s record label just shelved his next album. However, this summer, he did sign on this summer to judge the Netflix singing competition show Building the Band.
