DIDDY: Day 11 – Mistrial Denied

Written by on May 29, 2025

Day 11 of the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial featured expert testimony from a Los Angeles police officer, an arson investigator and Cassie Ventura’s stylist, Deonte Nash.

Deonte Nash detailed ways that Diddy controlled Cassie during their tumultuous relationship. Nash said under oath that Diddy threatened to release homemade tapes of the so-called “freak offs”.

Nash said Diddy’s bodyguard delivered Cassie to a plastic surgeon’s office after a violent attack that split open her face. Another time, Cassie considered climbing over a hotel balcony railing to escape Diddy’s violent rage.

Nash attempted to protect Cassie from Diddy. On one occasion, Diddy arrived at Nash’s home in search of Cassie. Nash told the jury (quote) “He started looking all around my house. He looked in the closets. He looked in the oven. I have no idea why he looked in the oven.”

The judge denied Diddy’s defense team request to declare a mistrial. They complained that prosecutors had introduced a line of questioning inferring that Diddy had critical evidence destroyed linking him to a home break-in at Kid Cudi‘s place.

A license plate search confirmed that a black Cadillac Escalade SUV at the 2011 break-in was registered to Diddy’s company, Bad Boy Productions. A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer who investigated the break-in obtained fingerprints from the front door. However, the arson expert investigating Kid Cudi’s car bombing blamed “someone in the LAPD” for destroying those fingerprints.

The judge instructed the jury (quote) “Questions regarding the destruction of the fingerprint cards — and the answers — are irrelevant to this case and are not to be considered by you.”

Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigator Lance Jimenez testified that Kid Cudi’s car was “targeted” a few weeks after the break-in. The jurors viewed photographed evidence from the “makeshift firebomb” featuring a 40-ounce Old English 800 malt liquor bottle filled with gasoline to make a Molotov cocktail. The bottle did not break, which reduced the effectiveness of Molotov cocktail. (ABC News)
