Shakira Draws 400,000 Fans to Historic Free Concert at Mexico City Zócalo

Written by on March 3, 2026

Shakira delivered a historic performance in Mexico City, drawing more than 400,000 fans to a free concert at the iconic Zócalo. The event, organized by the Mexico City Government and Grupo Modelo, is now considered the largest gathering ever held at the venue.

Produced by OCESA, the show extended beyond the main square with screens placed along surrounding streets and at Alameda Central and the Monument to the Revolution to accommodate the massive crowd.

Special guest Beéle joined Shakira onstage to debut their new collaboration, “Algo Tú,” set for release May 4. Fans also erupted during performances of global hits including “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

The milestone concert adds momentum to Shakira’s upcoming appearance at Copacabana Beach for the Todo Mundo No Rio event on May 2.

Her performance follows recognition from Billboard, which named her tour the highest grossing Hispanic tour of all time with $421.6 million in revenue. She was also recently announced as a 2026 nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
