Jake Paul Explains Why He Was Running For Dear Life After Being Confronted By Floyd Mayweather

Looks like Jake Paul isn’t so tough after all. The former YouTuber has taken to his Instagram Story to explain why he ran off from Floyd Mayweather and his entourage after the boxing champ confronted him in Miami last night, two years after their infamous brawl. Paul and Mayweather crossed paths while leaving an NBA game between the Cleveland Cavaliers vs Miami Heat on Wednesday evening, and in video footage obtained by TMZ, the 46-year-old is casually seen approaching a nervous-looking Paul who appeared to have no more than one security guard with him.

When Mayweather stepped up to the 26-year-old, a member of his entourage is heard saying, “What happened, you not tough anymore since your loss? What happened since your loss? Are we gonna bust him up guys? Yo, let’s bust him up.” In a desperate attempt to avoid a physical altercation, Paul slowly backed up from the crew before running towards the stadium he had just exited. In case you aren’t up to speed, the pair were involved in a scuffle at a press conference for his brother Logan’s exhibition back in May 2021 after Paul boldly snatched Mayweather’s hat off his head.

In a video posted to social media shortly after their encounter last night, however, Paul tried to clear the air, saying that he ran off from Mayweather because he ambushed him with “50 dudes” in tow, and he wasn’t “dumb enough” to take on his entire team. “So I’m leaving the Miami Heat game and Floyd Mayweather and 50 dudes pull up out of nowhere,” he said in his video. “Out of like some side alley, waiting for me outside the stadium, and they’re like, “So what’s up? what’s all that talk now?”

“I’m like, “First of all, what did I say to you Floyd? I just took your hat and you’re still mad about it? Come on, bro”. Paul insisted to his fans that he wouldn’t be opposed to taking Mayweather — a five-time world champion — on for a fight between the two, but there was no chance he was going to engage in a brawl if it was him going against a group of guys.
